THE IDEA

The internet, tuned to another decade.

A YouTube player imagined as an old video receiver. A green-phosphor interface, a tape library, and a room-darkening theater mode turn online watching into a more deliberate desktop experience.

Node.js · YouTube API · Chromium

01

Tune in with intent

Search, browse subscriptions and channel uploads, and load saved playlists without returning to the normal YouTube layout.

02

Build a stack of tapes

Queue videos, move between them, and recover from videos that cannot be embedded.

03

Let the room go dark

Theater mode dims the surrounding controls while keeping the picture and just enough context visible.

WHERE IT STANDS

Where the work is today.

A working local prototype on the Omarchy desktop, with playback and signed-in browsing verified. There is no hosted public version; YouTube embedding restrictions still apply.

This editorial illustration conveys the terminal concept. It is not a captured frame of the application.
